Huawei P20 Pro’s latest update disabled the AI in Camera app – CLT-L29 8.1.9.156(C432)

Huawei P20 Pro units are now receiving a new system update from the company all around the world. The update arrives as build CLT-L29 8.1.9.156(C432), brings August 2018 security patch with multiple under the hood improvements and mostly importantly some camera changes. The main camera changes includes disabling of AI scene recognition feature in the camera app, it is not completely removed by you need to enable it manually from settings.

The AI based scene recognition features helps you in taking great photos regarding the scene the AI feature detect, so you can enable it anytime if you find it useful. Just a day ago same update has been delivered to Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S9 but it brings the addition of AI based feature in handling better image processing.

The 525MB sized CLT-L29 8.1.9.156(C432) update is rolling out via OTA as we speak, the screenshot of the update is posted above which also includes the change-log of the update as well. Talking about the disabling of Master AI feature, why would the company disable such a useful feature? The general consensus from the users shows that the this feature was producing less than ideal results or perhaps was creating too much confusion for users. So considering the votes the company decided to turn off the feature by default allowing the users to manually switch on if they needed.
