PPW29.116-11: Download Android Pie official ROM for Moto G6 Plus [Fastboot flashable]

Finally it seems that Motorola under Lenovo has started rolling out Android Pie update for it’s devices. Earlier today we reported you about Moto Z3 getting Android Pie update from the company. And now Motorola has finally released Android 9.0 Pie official update for Moto G6 lineup. The Android Pie update for Moto G6 Plus is available to download as build PPW29.116-11, the update not only brings goodies of Android Pie but also addition of new features along January 2019 security patch and much more. In this tutorial we have mentioned the process to download the PPW29.116-11 firmware zip for Moto G6 Plus and also mentioned the process to install it via fastboot. Android Pie PPW29.116-11 for Moto G6 Plus, What’s New?

Back in August 2018, Motorola announced to release the Pie update for supported device in fall 2018, then in November roll out begin for Moto One and One Power. Next in the line was Moto Z/G series device, after releasing Pie update for Moto Z3 units, the update is now finally hitting Moto G6 Plus units in Brazil. Moto G6 Plus was released in 2018 with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and now users in Brazil are getting Pie update as an OTA, a user on Reddit has posted an image which claims that there is some update available for a select number of devices.

It is needless to mentioned that Android Pie comes with major improvements over Oreo firmware.  For change log, Motorola notes that the firmware update will “improve your mobile experience from the new Intuitive Navigation and Recent App”. Once the update is installed don the device it will also bring an improved Do Not Disturb mode, adaptive brightness/battery, simplified volume control, revamped split screen, a revamped settings menu and much more.

The update is rolling out as we speak but not all devices will get the update at once, it will gradually hit a few devices in a few days or weeks. However you can head to Settings > System > System updates and if check for the system update if available, tap on Download and install to get the update.

How to install Android Pie official PPW29.116-11 OTA on Moto G6 Plus via fastboot

Download:

Download the Android Pie PPW29.116-11 firmware [EVERT_PPW29.116-11_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip]

Pre-requisites:

Download and install latest adb fastboot drivers on PC.

 

 

When the fastboot drivers are installed on your device, now transfer the extracted firmware content to the ADB folder where the ADB/Fastboot binaries are present by default it is in C:/ drive (as shown above).

A working USB cable is required.

Your device must be charged upto 60%, to avoid shutdown during the process.

Process to flash the firmware via fastboot commands.

It’s the time to turn off your device completely.

 

Now hold press and hold Volume Down + Power buttons together until you see fastboot mode on your device.

 

Connect your device to PC using USB data cable and let the drivers installed completely.

 

Now press and hold Shift key and right mouse click any empty space in the adb folder and choose ‘Open command window here’ (as shown above).

In the command window type the following commands one after the other to install the firmware via fastboot. Remember to follow the same sequence as listed.

On reboot, your Moto G6 Plus will be running Android Pie update.

Method 2: Now if you don’t want to play the command game, just download the G6PlusFlashPieOfficial.bat and place it in the same adb folder where the extracted firmware files are present, it contains the same commands as listed above. Just run the script and let the process complete.
