January 2019 security update for T-Mobile LG G6 is released – build H87220g

LG has recently revealed it’s Android Pie release plan for LG G6, as per plan the update will be released in Q3, 2019. So that’s long way to go, so till then LG G6 users have to rely on Android Pie based custom ROMs. But that doesn’t mean there will be no system update until the major OS release. LG has released a new system update for T-Mobile LG G6 that brings important security fixes and carries security patch for the month of January 2019. The January 2019 update for T-Mobile LG G6 comes with build H87220g, brings multiple improvements in the overall firmware. Once the new update is installed on your device, you’ll see the security patch upgraded to January 01, 2019 in system information section.

Process to update January 2019 H87220g OTA on T-Mobile LG G6

Currently the update is rolling out via OTA so we recommend you to get it on your device via manually check for the OTA.

Tap the Settings icon in the apps drawer.

In the Setting menu, head to the “About phone” section.

Now select tap on “System updates” and check for the available system updates.

Tap on Download if it notifies you of the update, and let it install automatically.

Note: If you get OTA update right on your device, then before installing the update it is mandatory to charge your device minimum at 60% to avoid shut down. Good Luck!
