HMD Global also started seeding Android 9.0 Pie stable update for Nokia X5 units in China. The Nokia X5 also known as Nokia 5.1 Plus in the international market was released back in July 2018 with Android 8.1 Oreo out on board. After Nokia 6 this is the second device that features a notched display, now a major firmware upgrade is hitting the device in China. The screenshot of the update is posted by a user who managed to captured the Pie OTA on his device and posted it on the website.

The Nokia X5 Pie update brings improved camera, theme store, app store, weather upgrades and more. It is needless to mentioned that the update brings latest security patch as well as goodies of Android Pie update for the Nokia X5 owners. The update brings certain new features including native Lockdown lock, Adaptive Battery feature, App Actions, Adaptive Brightness, new features in Do Not Disturb mode, gesture-based navigation and a lot more. Apart from that the update comes with December 2018 security patch and other Nokia specific security fixes.

Firmware details:

Device name: Nokia X5

OS: Android 9.0 Pie

Region: China

Software version: currently unknown

Firmware type: Stable

The update is rolling out now at the time of writing, you can also flash the firmware manually on your phone but that’s the matter of time until we get our hands on the firmware file. One more thing don’t get impatient to get the OTA right away on your device because depending upon regional delays the update’ll take some days to reach all users.

If you are already running Android Pie beta, head to Settings > About phone > system updates. Check for the new updates if available, non beta users must check via same method.
