The update is released to fix the system stability, call quality improvements and network stability improvements. The update seems to be minor one but it’s not, the OxygenOS 5.1.8 brings all the other important fixes that were released in the OxygenOS 5.1.7 update. So the Indian region where OxygenOS 5.1.7 was not released this OxygenOS 5.1.8 is meant to cover that region and apply the fix for the aforementioned bootloader vulnerability in India. The update is based on Android 8.1 Oreo, if you are already registered with the Android P Beta program then it’s worth noticing that OnePlus rolled out Android P Beta 2 for registered users. But if you are not, then OxygenOS 5.1.8 update is rolling out as we are writing this post, you can update latest firmware on your phone by following a few method described below.
Download OxygenOS 5.1.8 zip for OnePlus 6
Download and install the Oxygen updater app from Google Play.
Install any VPN and set the location to Germany.
Now open the Oxygen updater app and let it search for OxygenOS 5.1.8 update if available.
If it say update available just download and install it else grab the complete zip file from the link below and install it manually.
Steps to manually install OxygenOS 5.1.8 OTA on OnePlus 6
Download the OxygenOS 5.1.8 full ROM zip for OnePlus 6 from the link below and move it on the root folder of the phone’s internal storage.
Navigate to Settings > System Update > Settings > Local upgrade > choose the OxygenOS 5.1.8 OTA zip
Let the OTA install on your device.
Once done with the installation process, wipe cache from recovery.
